Authorized Consignee is a facilitation measure in the Turkish customs system that allows imported goods to be received directly at a company's premises or a designated location without the need to visit a customs office. This practice is exclusively granted to companies holding the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status, enabling them to conduct import operations more quickly, cost-effectively, and efficiently.
The Authorized Consignee status provides several advantages, including time savings, reduced costs, simplified import procedures, flexible logistics management, improved operational efficiency, enhanced international competitiveness, and increased prestige and reliability.
Companies with the Authorized Consignee status gain the right to handle customs clearance for goods transported from abroad directly at their own facilities, without visiting a customs office. In essence, their premises function as an extension of a customs administration.
To obtain Authorized Consignee status, a company must meet the following requirements:
Authorized consignee facilities must also meet strict security requirements. Key security measures include the installation of surveillance cameras in loading and unloading areas, as well as monitoring the facility’s perimeter with security cameras.
Authorized Consignee status allows transit regime holders to deliver goods directly to companies authorized for on-site customs clearance. Additionally, import customs procedures can be completed at these authorized consignee facilities.
ConsultSight Consulting provides professional consultancy services in this field, assisting authorized consignee firms with process monitoring, compliance auditing, and specialized training programs.
